Porcelain Veneers

Are your teeth stained, worn, or unevenly spaced? Do you wish there was a way to instantly transform your smile? Porcelain veneers are thin, porcelain coverings custom designed to resolve all of your cosmetic dental problems. Dr. Wilmore designs and places porcelain veneers, often in just two visits to our Houston dental office.

What to Expect
At your initial consultation, Dr. Wilmore will ask you details about your smile. She may recommend that you bring in pictures of smiles you like, so she can pinpoint specific areas for improvement. Digitally-enhanced images or a wax-up model will give you an idea of what your smile will look like after porcelain veneers have been placed. Once a final design is agreed upon, Dr. Wilmore will prepare your teeth and fit you with temporary veneers while your permanent restorations are being fabricated by artisans in a dental laboratory.

Porcelain Veneer Placement
After we receive your final restorations, we will call you in for a second appointment. Dr. Wilmore will make any necessary adjustments, and then adhere the porcelain veneers to your front teeth. The bonding agent is designed specifically for dentistry and will hold the veneers in place for years. Sensitivity to hot and cold is common following porcelain veneer placement and should subside within a few days.

Caring for Your Porcelain Veneers
The porcelain used in dentistry is extremely durable; however, we recommend that you avoid chewing ice and hard candy to prevent breakage. Otherwise, brush and floss regularly and visit Dr. Wilmore for regular exams and cleanings, and your porcelain veneers can last for ten years or longer. Porcelain veneers will not stain like natural tooth enamel, so whitening will not be an issue.
